EXERCISE: RELEASE 3 14.00 - Statement on Accident EU 123

SAS regrets to confirm that its flight number EU 123 with 93 passengers and six (6) crew en route from Ronneby to Stockholm was involved in an accident at 10.20 hours local time today. The accident occurred when landing.

SAS regrets to confirm that casualties have been reported, however at this time SAS cannot confirm the number of casualties until rescue operations have been completed.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-600, was delivered to SAS 1999 and has flown 17,849 hrs in 17,826 flights. The aircraft is equipped with two engines. The latest weekly check was performed on October 5, 2008, and the latest major check was performed on February 12, 2008. The next major check was planned to be performed on June 4, 2009.

The names of the passengers and crew will be released when all next-of-kins have been notified. A special phone number has been established for families and relatives.

A press conference will be held today at SAS Head office, Frösundavik, Stockholm at 15.00 hrs with SAS President and CEO Mats Jansson and Scandinavian Airlines Sverige CEO Anders Ehrling.
