SAS President and CEO elected to IATA Board

October 27, 2009 15:12

Mats Jansson, President and CEO of SAS, has been elected a member of the Board of Governors of the International Air Transportation Association (IATA). He replaces Fernando Conte, former President of Iberia.

The IATA currently represents 230 airlines, which jointly account for 93 percent of global aviation. The organization’s operations are highly diverse and comprise all essential aspects of the aviation industry and its customers. The organization’s areas of activity include flight safety, technology, operational and financial matters. The electronic tickets used by essentially all airlines are a result of IATA efforts. Environmental matters are at the center of IATA’s operations and the organization recently presented specific targets for the entire aviation industry, including manufacturers, airports and air-traffic control organizations prior to the COP15 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December.
SAS was one of the organization’s first members when it was founded in 1945.
