Government chooses SAS in Gothenburg, Malmö and Umeå

August 29, 2006 17:38

The Swedish government has selected SAS as its suppliers on all the domestic routes that have recently been procured: between Stockholm and Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmö and Stockholm and Umeå, as well as between Umeå and Gothenburg and Umeå and Malmö.

“This means that we have now regained Gothenburg and Umeå, which is a major success for us” says Marie-Louise Kjellström, Head of Sales and Distribution for SAS in Sweden.

“As a result of the agreement with the government regarding domestic SAS routes, which was concluded during the spring, we are now suppliers to government authorities on all of the routes served by us. Central government employees can now choose SAS on all of the airline’s routes.”

SAS estimates that traffic on the routes that have been added will rise by 20-30%.

Background
Swedish Armed Forces Logistics (FMLOG) is the authority responsible for procurement of air travel within the framework of the regulation of coordination of government procurement (SFS 1998:796). This procurement affects a number of domestic routes. The agreement becomes effective on September 1, 2006 and applies until August 31, 2007, with the option of an extension of one year.
