Mats Jansson new President and CEO of SAS
The Board of Directors of SAS AB today appointed Mats Jansson new President and CEO of SAS. He is 54 and was most recently President and CEO of Axel Johnson AB with sales of some SEK 43 billion and 14,000 employees in 25 countries (2005). The Johnson Group works in areas ranging from distribution of consumer products to industrial production.“Mats Jansson is a respected leader who for twelve years has been President and CEO of a large number of major companies with Nordic and international operations, including Catena/Bilia, Fazer and Axfood,” says Egil Myklebust, Chairman of the SAS Board of Directors.
“Mats Jansson is a leader with documented skills and experience of both the consumer and business-to-business sectors. He is accustomed to working in sectors characterized by major changes. He is an energetic, motivated, secure and open person. The Board is unanimous in its view that he is the right leader to continue developing SAS,” continues Egil Myklebust.
“SAS is a brand with positive connotations, and SAS has a large customer base and skilled employees,” says Mats Jansson. “Both the airline industry and SAS still need to undergo changes. In the increasingly tough competition, SAS and its flight operations have strong growth potential.”
Mats Jansson will begin his employment with SAS 1st January 2007.
