SAS carries the three Scandinavian Olympic Games committees and teams to Beijing

July 25, 2008 08:05

The three individual Scandinavian Olympic Games committees will fly Scandinavian Airlines next month as SAS is their airline partner for Beijing 2008.

SAS will be responsible for transporting all Danish, Norwegian and Swedish athletes, managers, delegates and family members to and from Beijing during the Olympic Games next month. In total, SAS will be responsible for transporting more than 1500 participants.

The three Scandinavian Olympic committees’ decision to choose SAS as their travel partner underlines SAS’ commitment to support Scandinavian sport teams, as well as the airlines’ strong network to Beijing from both Copenhagen and Stockholm. At present, SAS connects Scandinavia with Beijing 13 times a week: daily from Copenhagen and six weekly from Stockholm.

“We want to support the Scandinavian countries and their athletes at the Olympic Games in Beijing next month and we are pleased to be the airline partner of the respective committees,” says Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Chief Executive Officer, SAS International. “Not only do we offer the best connections between Scandinavia and Beijing, but also the highest comfort to ensure the athletes arrive refreshed in order to give their best performances.”

“We chose SAS based on the positive experiences we have had with them at prior Olympic Games, as well as the good partnership we have had with SAS throughout the years,” said Karl Chr. Koch, director of the Denmark’s Idræts-Forbund.

“The Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sport has chosen SAS because of its experience with sports and its knowledge of the athlete’s special travel demands,” says Morten Schønfeldt, Marketing Manager, the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sport. “SAS always strive to provide the best and most flexible solutions.”

“It feels completely natural for SAS to be our airline partner,” says Stefan Lindeberg, chairman of Sweden’s Sveriges Olympiska Kommitté (SOK). “This is a good solution for the Olympic Games troop and for SOK’s trips prior to the Games.”For further information, please contact
