Scandinavian Airlines Sverige launches new routes to Spain
Three new routes to Spain will be launched in the autumn: Gothenburg-Barcelona, Gothenburg-Malaga and Stockholm-Barcelona. This means that during 2007 Scandinavian Airlines Sverige has expanded with the launch of 12 new international destinations from Sweden.
“Spain is a growing market so it is natural that we are increasing our offering between Sweden and Spain,” says Susanne Dahlberg, Commercial Director at Scandinavian Airlines Sverige.
Flights on the Gothenburg-Barcelona route will commence on November 2, and this will be the only non-stop route to central Barcelona from Gothenburg. This route will be operated twice a week, on Friday mornings and Sunday evenings. The route will also have excellent connections for onward travel with our sister company Spanair to such destinations as Las Palmas, Madrid and Alicante.
Gothenburg-Malaga traffic will begin on October 9 and this route will be operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The new route will give more people from Gothenburg the chance to enjoy the Costa del Sol or to go on a ski vacation to Sierra Nevada. Scandinavian Airlines Sverige will operate flights to Malaga from both Stockholm and Gothenburg throughout the winter.
“The focus on Gothenburg feels perfectly right! Gothenburg is an important market for Scandinavian Airlines Sverige and our positive cooperation with the business sector in the city will help us identify new opportunities,” concludes Susanne Dahlberg.
Flights between Stockholm and Barcelona will depart twice a week on Thursday mornings and Sunday evenings, beginning on October 25. Demand for flights between Stockholm and Barcelona is continuing to increase. Together with Spanair, Scandinavian Airlines Sverige will have nine flights a week between Stockholm and Barcelona. The timetable will also be adjusted to suit passengers traveling from Finland and Estonia.
The Gothenburg-Malaga and Stockholm-Barcelona routes will be operated with B737-800 aircraft and the Gothenburg-Barcelona route with MD-80 aircraft.
Tickets are available for purchase from today with prices from SEK 650 one-way.
