SAS premier to Kittilä today

December 19, 2008 12:45

Today at lunchtime, the first SAS aircraft left Stockholm Arlanda to fly to Kittilä in Northern Finland. Kittilä is a skiing paradise that is now just two hours away.SAS is the first to fly directly between Stockholm and Kittilä. The popular skiing areas Levi and Ylläs that attract skiing enthusiasts from all of Europe are just a short distance away.

“Should anyone tire of the slopes, they can instead take a reindeer safari, ride a dogsled or enjoy a genuine Finnish sauna followed by a dip in a hole in the ice,” says Niclas Härenstam, Press Officeer at SAS Sweden.

SAS will operate the Stockholm- Kittilä service using a Boeing 737-600 twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. The price for a one-way ticket will start at SEK 700, including fees. With a lunchtime departure from Arlanda, there will be excellent connections from the rest of Sweden and Europe.

“Being able to control your own time is increasingly important for people. With SAS, it is possible to ski over a weekend, a short or a full week, or even longer,” says Niclas Härenstam.

Together with SAS’s Finnish associated company Blue1, which flies to Kittilä with a change in Helsinki, there are many travel combinations. SAS will operate the Stockholm – Kittilä service during the winter season until April 17.
