SAS and Disney team up for new heights with a striped airplane

September 25, 2013 07:00

SAS and Disney have teamed up around the Nordic launch of Disney’s new animated family movie Planes. As part of the collaboration, SAS has decorated on one of its airplanes with characters from the movie. The striped plane is now in traffic, helping to boost excitement for the coming release of Disney’s Planes in Nordic theaters in the upcoming weeks. It will fly until mid-May 2014.Disney and SAS are collaborating around the launch of the coming Disney animated movie Planes in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Under the collaboration, SAS will be part of various launch activities from Disney, and the movie characters Dusty, El Chupacabra and Rochelle will also take to the air with SAS, on a Boeing 737-800.

“Offering something out of the ordinary to our customers is a fun way of promoting our collaboration with Disney. Choosing to decorate one of our planes with the Disney characters feels especially cool. We hope many people get the chance to see the plane and of course fly with it,” says Stefan Hedelius, Vice President Strategy, Marketing and Concepts at SAS.

In addition to the characters on the aircraft, passengers can also enjoy the usual benefits for families and children when travelling with SAS, such as discounted child fares on the majority of SAS flights, toys and games onboard and assisted travel for unaccompanied children aged 5-12 years.

“Disney and SAS share the interest for families and the constant aim to use our products to create positive experiences for our audiences. Given the theme of this movie, the aircraft is the perfect platform for communicating on Planes and it is very exciting to now see Dusty and friends head up to the sky,” says Anna Glanmark, Marketing Director, The Walt Disney Company Nordic.

18.5 x 4.4 meter decal
15 to 16 foil panels were affixed to each side of the aircraft to create the decor. 18.5 x 4.4 meter large decals are now on each side of the plane. The aircraft, registration number LN-RCY, flies the entire SAS network in Scandinavia and Europe and can be tracked on Flightradar24 http://www.flightradar24.com/#60,15/6?&_suid=13799346309870514521485380854.
