SAS appoints Björn Alegren as new President of SAS Ground Services (SGS) and Patrik Knutsson as new Chief Purchasing Officer

The SAS Group has appointed Björn Alegren as new President of its subsidiary SAS Ground Services (SGS).Björn Alegren has a solid background within SAS, having held many senior positions, including station manager at Arlanda, area manager in several foreign markets and regional manager for Europe and the Middle East. He has also been head of SAS International and President of the subsidiary European Aeronautical Group. He has been V.P. Corporate Purchasing and Chief Purchasing Officer since 2005.

At the same time, Patrik Knutsson has been appointed new V.P. Corporate Purchasing and Chief Purchasing Officer of the SAS Group. Patrik Knutsson, who is an economics graduate with a solid background in purchasing, joins SAS from the company IBX, which specializes in purchasing solutions, where his work included software responsibility for a strategic purchasing cooperation project with SAS. Prior to this, he was head of purchasing for mobile operator “3”.

Hans-Otto Halvorsen, who has been President of SGS since 2003, will leave his position following a decision made mutually with Group management.

The above changes will occur on September 3.

SGS is a wholly owned company within the SAS Group that offers passenger service at airports and ground services for handling baggage and aircraft.
In 2006, SGS served a total of 129 airlines and had approximately 6,600 employees.
Revenues in SGS were SEK 5.8 billion in 2006.
